Day 4
This week has not been anything like I thought it would be a week ago. After decades of yo yo dieting and ballooning to 304 pounds a few weeks ago( I had not mentioned that publicly yet!), I decided to do something radically different… change. It’s been pretty extreme. I kick around ideals all the time that I don’t take action on for one reason or another, but this time it’s been different, as I told Hyo Kim, my Life on Fire Challenge Coach, it’s like cliff diving, once you jump, you cannot go back. I posted my scales and weight on Facebook starting Wednesday March 15, 2017, and pledged to continue posting my weight until I reach 175 pounds.
I’m using sound nutrition tracked by my health coach John Davisson, who lost 65 pounds 10 years ago using this program and has kept it off since.
I invited anyone that reads these posts to join me in this Extreme Accountability Challenge, the only requirement is to post your scales with your weight daily. I have had a lot of conversations since I began with several people that are joining me in spirit
( that means they are not posting their weight) and that’s all good, this is extreme accountability. Only one has jumped all in, Summers Duffy, he posted yesterday. Summers and I are now on a pretty unique journey together, I am not suggesting to anyone what to eat or how to exercise, that’s up to the individual, this is the extreme accountability part. I wish I could capture in words the difference it has made over the last 3 days and for the first time in my life I know that I will be thin again. But make no mistake about it the only way this extreme accountability challenge works is by going all in, weighing in the full view of the world . It’s not right for everyone, I know that.
This morning I read a comment from Robbie McAllister, “Proud of you, Live out loud” ( A personal hero of mine a real man that has lived his entire life out loud!) It really got me thinking about how I have lied to myself about my weight for so long and thought I was hiding it. (Like you can hide over 100 pounds of fat) and by bringing it out in the open I am gaining freedom. I know I am just some guy that has failed miserably at controlling weight and now I am taking action, it certainly doesn’t make me special. But where else have I said that” I will get to that later” or “it’s not important now.” Today anyone that reads this gets to make a choice, whether it’s weight loss, another form of addiction, a career change, a book you are planning to write, an apology you need to make, or anything else that you know you need to do but are putting it off. Take action and like Robbie says “Live out Loud”
175 pounds here I come!!
A big shout out to #LifeonFire, Nick Unsworth, and my #LifeonFireChallenge coach Hyo Kim, I would not have done this without you!
Anyone that wants to join Summers and me, message me and we will lock arms with you.
Who else among you is ready to change?
