Day 1 of Transforming Your Bottom Line and Waistline

Achieving success with your health or achieving success in business takes intentional, consistent effort. There really are very few secrets and no magic pills for either that I am aware of.
It’s been almost 2 years since I stepped on the scales and snapped the picture of that 304 pound disaster March 2, 2017. I was 55 years old and at 5’11” 304 pounds was more than a little overweight. I had known how to lose weight and get healthy for years, the doing it and sticking with it was always the challenge.
I looked for an easier way to lose weight, one that would just magically take my weight off. To my knowledge it doesn’t exist. The success or the lack of success comes in the doing, the day in and day out of following a plan that works for you. Making a decision to go “all in” and get healthy again or maybe for the first time in your adult life takes focus, discipline, and commitment. I don’t have any magic pills or new exercise that will take the weight off. It’s next to impossible to outrun a fork or a spoon.
From March 2, 2017 to November 17, 2017, I lost 129 pounds. I had to not only change the way I ate but really who I was. I had to become who I was capable of being, the real Alan Thomas had to be revealed. I did it, I reached my destination weight of 175 pounds, but like my health coach told me on that day that the scales revealed 175 pounds, ” Now the hard part begins!”
Since then I have felt like a football team nursing a 2 touchdown lead that goes into a prevent defense before halftime, it’s normally painful to watch as the opposing team drives down the field to victory.
01/28/19
Day 1
Start Date 01/28/19
Goal Date to achieve destination weight 4/28/19
Number of days until destination date 90
Starting weight 213.4 pounds
Destination weight 174 pounds
Today’s weight 213.4 pounds
Totals weight loss to date 0.0 pounds
39.4 pounds to go
Over the next 90 days I will do what’s necessary to reach 174 pounds, yep, 1 pound less than my former destination weight. Weighing 90 pounds less than my highest weight, it’s easy to make that my benchmark and have another helping of whatever. 39 pounds in 90 days is very doable and I would like to invite anyone that is interested to come along and get healthier with me.
I am honestly embarrassed to post my scales today but really if it gets me there again, who really cares. My health is far more valuable than my ego.
As I walk through this journey again, I really believe there are a lot of parallels between how we treat our health and how we approach business and success. Each day over the next 90 days I will drawn your attention to those parallels.
There are really very few surprises when it comes to weight management or management of a.business, or career. The principles work when you work the principles.
